Michael Marion “Mike” Lewnes,
age 83, of Port Republic, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022. She was born on October 28, 1938 in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Emily Stoddard Butler and Paul “Doggie” Haislip Wilson.
Mike enjoyed 36 years as the beloved secretary at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick, Maryland. She considered the parishioners her extended family and the church her second home. She loved her job and hardly considered it work.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Benjamin Shields, Paul Wilson, Donald Wilson, Fred Wilson, Daryl Wilson and her sister, Patrice McCrindle. She is survived by her husband, John Thomas “Jack” Lewnes, her sisters, Jeannie McNulty and Charlene Masterson, her children, Thomas John Lewnes (Dawn), Kimberly Ann Schoonover (Bruce), and Karen Ann Young, her grandchildren, Shawn Michael Young (Taylor), Brian Thomas Young, Amanda Michelle Baker, Hannah Rose Lee Lewnes, Nathanial John Charles Lewnes, Matthew Robert Schoonover, Emily Ann Schoonover, her great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Chase, Shianne, and Quinnley Baker, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held here at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 105 Vianney Lane, Prince Frederick, Maryland, on Thursday, March 24th, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be at St. John Vianney at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25th. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations be made to our parish.
