St. John Vianney Youth Ministry Program aims to walk with each unique young person on their faith journey through the relational methods of accompaniment and discipleship. Young people in today's generation face many challenges and struggles but we believe a young person thrives and discovers their identity in the context of a loving community.
Called to Accompany!
Do you have a heart for young people? Do you recognize how much our young people need God's love and presence? Then God might be calling you to join our adult volunteer team. Volunteer responsibilities can include leading confirmation small groups, discipling our peer ministry team, assisting with office work, ensuring our COVID-19 safety measures are carried out, or helping with hospitality at youth events!
Discovering Your Purpose!
Are you a baptized 8th - 12th grader who has not received the sacrament of Confirmation yet? Then we invite you to register for our 2022-2023 Youth Confirmation Program! St. John Vianney's Youth Confirmation program is a place for a young person to learn and understand their identity as a disciple of Jesus Christ and to be filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To register please reach out to our director of Religious Education, Kim Stack at ccd@sjvchurch.net.
Allowing Your Light to Shine!
Peer Ministry is a service and leadership opportunity for all high school graduates who have received their sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation. Please lift up our youth by praying this prayer that St. John Paul II placed in his Message for the 32nd World Day of Prayer for Vocations in 1995. We encourage you to pray it out loud:
O Virgin of Nazareth,
the ‘yes’ spoken in youth marked your
existence and it grew as did your life itself.
O Mother of Jesus,
in your free and joyful ‘yes’
and in your active faith so many generations
and so many educators have found inspiration
and strength for welcoming the Word of God
and for fulfilling his will.
O Teacher of life,
teach young people to pronounce the ‘yes’
that gives meaning to existence
and brings them to discover the hidden ‘name’ of God
in the heart of every person.
O Queen of the Apostles, give us wise educators,
who will know how to love young people and help them grow,
guiding them to the encounter with Truth which makes one free and happy.
Amen!
